And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?
~Mary Oliver
what is beauty for but to awaken us from the dreariness of having to be what we think we ought to be
and to shake us into being truly
tonight I pulled home as the sun sank to the west and
spread its peach light over the mountains
as the chickens clucked in the warm evening air,
the sheep munched green hay,
and I stepped out of the car to this land
this sky
this space
what is beauty for but to shake the crust of our shells away
to show us how to be born into each moment
to pull us into life
